Ruby Slippers echeveria — archived plan

Archived September 20, 2026. Seller cancellation confirmed September 21; no charge. This plant was never received. The September 19 botanical research and proposed care remain here as an abandoned plan, outside the active collection. See the old-plan overview.

  • Former inventory allocation: Succulent-14 — probable Echeveria harmsii; seller name “Echeveria Ruby Slippers”
  • Physical-label allocation: none — withdrawn
  • Tracker allocation: none — withdrawn
  • Status: Archived — never received; canceled 2026-09-21
  • Visual description: Seller imagery shows fuzzy green leaves with red tips and margins; Echeveria harmsii references describe a branching succulent with hairy, narrow leaves.
  • Interesting fact: The working species grows as a small branching subshrub, so it may eventually rise above its flatter rosette companions.
  • Identification: seller-labeled Ruby Slippers echeveria; Echeveria harmsii is a probable working identification, not a confirmed species or registered cultivar
  • Ordered from: The Succulent Cult through Amazon; order screenshot supplied 2026-09-19
  • Order status: Seller cancellation confirmed 2026-09-21; no charge. Former estimated delivery: October 1, 2026.
  • Advertised container: Seller lists a rooted starter in a 2-inch nursery pot
  • Former proposed pot: Owner-designated shared decorated Amazon Basics 8-inch white polypropylene pot with drainage, in Molly's Succulent Mix

The decorated pot was a separate purchase. Its later use is described in the equipment inventory.

Names and identity

Kind Name
Exact seller wording Echeveria Ruby Slippers
Working species Probable Echeveria harmsii
Trade name Ruby Slippers; retained without claiming a verified cultivar registration
Reference common name Red echeveria
Origin of working species Mexico

The trade name is commonly associated with Echeveria harmsii, but the supplied Amazon title does not contain that species epithet. RHS describes hairy green leaves with red margins and a branching habit for the species. Other hairy echeverias and hybrids can resemble this description. The seller's plant therefore remains a probable E. harmsii match.

Kew records Echeveria harmsii as an accepted Mexican species. The breeder, release year, and parentage behind this seller's “Ruby Slippers” trade name are unknown.

Former shared-container plan

The abandoned shared-pot plan grouped Cubic Frost, Coppertone, Deminuta, and Ruby Slippers in one decorated eight-inch pot. Nanouk was planned separately.

Proposed care — archived research

Topic Practical starting approach
Light Bright, clear exposure. RHS gives full sun for the working species; that is outdoor guidance, not a requirement to place a new starter beneath the collection's highest lamp reading. The intended area is owner-reported at approximately 18–22 estimated DLI.
Shared-pot position Put its potentially taller branching growth where it will not shade the small Deminuta rosettes. Final height and placement are unmeasured.
Water Follow the shared planter's dry-down and the watering strategy. Red tips alone are not a watering instruction.
Mix and drainage The shared 8-inch drainage pot and Molly's Succulent Mix are owner-designated. Keep the base of the stems clear and use a future planting's own weight history.
Growth Reassess crowding as branches develop; preserve light and access around the lower rosettes.

Reference watch points

RHS describes red-and-yellow flowers for E. harmsii. Leaf shape, hairs, branching, and flowers would help distinguish a future specimen from similar hairy echeverias.

If one component becomes persistently shaded or needs an incompatible watering pattern, a documented separation is preferable to repeatedly watering the entire planter for it. Each plant's leaf condition would still need individual attention.
